This sweet Goober needs a home with grass pasture, a stall and a person to be all his own.. Lock and Load aka Goober is a18 years young, registered APHA stallion. 15.2 at whithers, 15.3 at rump and THICK. No health issues or maintenance. Barefoot. He is a stallion. And you wouldn't believe it. Goober is VERY calm, quiet, and absolutely non-reactive. He can be penned with other horses. No bite, paw, buck, rear, bolt ever. The baby leads him. The dog leads him. He follows you like a puppy everywhere. Even into the house. He rides double. He wears hats, clothes, and is just plain chill. Goober has way more WHOA than go. He is responsive and moves when asked. He neck reins, works off off of seat and legs. When in shape, he moves very collected with his rump well under him. He has a beautiful, comfy, slow jog. A comfy extended trot, rocking canter, and just smooth. He has a light mouth. Rides quietly on loose reins with a hackamore. Grandma can ride. The kids can ride. He goes well beside roads, crosses water, barking dogs are no bother, good around traffic, he'll get a little looky at big blowing trash and rattly dump trucks. I have exclusively trail ridden him. Goober cannot do explosive speed events. Not that he'd even want to. Previous owner says he had mild roars and should not. However, I do 13 mile trail rides with long gallops and have never heard him do it. Goober has perfect ground manners, farrier skills, good for baths. Stands to be mounted. He can be a little slow/stubborn loading. His only vice, he blows up his belly and wiggles when you tighten the girth. Like it's killing him. He was a mounted shooting horse and breeding stallion in his prior life. He did produce color. Said to be a gentle pasture breeder. Why am I rehoming? I currently house Goober in a wooded, shady 3/4 acre paddock with a stall. There are tons of oak trees. He will eat all of the acorns and then strip and eat bark off of the trees. He must be stalled to prevent exposure with short turn outs. Goober is addicted and will hunt it down. We thought he had EPM last year but it ended being toxicity from the oaks. I had a horrific car accident on 10/16/25. I can't physically care for him. And I have MONTHS to a YEAR before I can. My medical bills and expenses are just crazy. Goober is out of shape as he hasn't been worked or ridden in 6 months. He's the same dude if you ride daily or monthly. IF and when Goober goes, it will be to the PERFECT loving, forever home (NO FLIPPERS). I will be checking his new home, vet, farrier, friends, references. Priced low for a quick, uncomplicated sale.
